Katherine Michael Lewis

Katherine Michael Lewis, 71, of Pine Knoll Shores, North Carolina, passed away January 30, 2025 with her loving husband by her side.

Kate was born on April 7, 1953, in Dayton, Ohio, but lived most of her childhood in Kirkwood, Missouri. After graduating from Kirkwood High School, she went on to become a jack-of-all-trades working in a stock brokerage firm, restaurants, and finally finding her groove in tax preparation both for H&R Block, where she progressed to office manager, and later as an independent preparer.

Kate met her husband, James (Jim) Lewis while living in Kirkwood and they married in 1987. They later retired to their current residence in Pine Knoll Shores where they enjoyed the beach, friends and neighbors, fishing and digging clams in the sound. Her skills as a chef ranged from baking sourdough bread, coffee cakes and wild blueberry pies to homemade pasta sauce and deviled clams that were greatly appreciated by her friends and family.

Kate is survived by her husband Jim, brothers Edward (Ted) Michael and Robert (Bruce) Michael, son Eric Lewis, and grandson Nathan Lewis.

A memorial service will be held at Madeline Island, Wisconsin, where she will be laid to rest alongside her family this summer. Her warm smile, infectious laugh, caring nature, and voice of reason will be missed by all who knew her.
